McKinley Middle Charter Schools Students are First Prize Winners in National C-SPAN documentary video competition
Congratulations to Madison Richards, Samantha Noll and Lauren Nixon who won 1st prize in a national C-SPAN documentary video competition.
These McKinley Middle Charter School students (Racine) will share a $3,000 prize for their video "Down to the Last Drop." In this video, they urge President Barack Obama to look at how to better sustain the country's freshwater supply. The C-SPAN video competition invites middle and high school students around the country to submit 5 to 8 minute documentaries on certain topics. The entrants were asked this year to focus on an "urgent issue" they wanted the new president to address. 1,900 videos were entered into the 2009 competition.
These same girls, along with two other students from McKinley - Sinclair Richards and Rizwan Bader - went on to also take first place in Time Warner Cable's Hang Tough Competition.
