Statement on Education Reform Legislation
February 9th, 2012 - WCSA applauds the work of education chairs Rep Kestell and Sen Olsen who circulated education reform legislation today. The legislation, which is an accompaniment to the WI Department of Public Instruction's proposed NCLB waiver is a significant step forward for education in Wisconsin. We are pleased that legislators resisted the urge to rush into decision making on the comprehensive accountability system and instead, are waiting until they have all the data necessary to make informed choices. When the US Department of Education and DPI have agreed on the specifics of a waiver for Wisconsin, we will continue to work with DPI and the legislature to ensure that Public Charter Schools are held to fair and transparent accountability measures.

Wisconsin’s charter schools provide a option in education for families and help Wisconsin's public school system improve the quality of education for ALL students with innovative curriculums.
