Benefits of membership
The Wisconsin Charter Schools Association (WCSA) is a statewide member driven organization serving public charter schools and advocates of public charter schools in Wisconsin. The association offers both individual and school memberships.
WCSA benefits the entire public charter school movement in Wisconsin by:
Building Political Support
WCSA provides professional advocacy at the Wisconsin State Legislature and state agencies. We work to educate policy makers and local officials on public charter school issues and support policies that will move the WI Public Charter Schools Movement toward greater autonomy and accountability.
Statewide Media and Communications
WCSA works diligently to make sure that public charter schools get the media recognition they deserve with fair and balanced view points. WCSA uses media and communications to push the movement forward and educate the statewide community.
Though all public charter schools benefit from the advocacy and communications work of WCSA, there are additional benefits to being a member school:
Assistance with Contract Development and Negotiations
The lifeblood of a high quality charter school is its contract. A well developed contract ensures that the public charter school has autonomy and accountability. WCSA provides in person support to member schools through development, negotiation, and re-negotiation of the contract. We also provide no cost work sessions with governance boards to understand their contract responsibilities.
Discounts to Events
WCSA members receive significant discounts to the Charter Schools Conference. In addition, members receive benefits from partnerships developed by WCSA for classroom materials, professional development, leadership training, etc.
Monthly Newsletters
WCSA issues monthly newsletters to keep our members up to date on the public charter schools movement in Wisconsin. Newsletters include legislative updates, news clips, up coming events of interest, and member opportunities.
Technical Assistance
WCSA provides technical assistance to all member schools in a timely and professional manner. Member schools can contact WCSA at any time with questions about governance, policy, state law, best practices, etc. In most cases questions can be answered via phone or email, but in person visits are also covered as a membership service.
